MSG Charles L. Robbins

MSG Charles Lester Robbins was killed on 15 February 1967. MSG Robbins was assigned to 85th Ordnance Detachment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal). MSG Robbins, SP5 Lynch, and two non-Explosive Ordnance Disposal volunteers were attempting to clear a minefield near Plieku, Republic of Vietnam when the accident occurred. A M16A1 antipersonnel mine detonated when MSG Robbins was either attempting to probe for it and safety it. The explosion killed MSG Robbins. SP5 Lynch was severely injured and the two volunteers received minor injuries. MSG Robbins received a posthumous promotion to Master Sergeant.
