1LT Bertram Ostro

1LT Bertram Ostro was killed on 10 August 1944.  1LT Ostro was assigned to the 32nd Ordnance Bomb Disposal Squad (Separate), based at Bonneville, France.  1LT Ostro was returning to his unit near Normandy Beach when his jeep passed over a German Teller mine, which exploded killing him instantly.  CPT Joseph A. “Joe” Bocelato riding in jeep with LT Ostro was uninjured in the blast.  1LT Ostro was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
