CPL Cory M. Hewitt

CPL Cory Michael Hewitt was killed on 21 December 2004. CPL Hewitt was assigned to the 705th Ordnance Company (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), 63rd Ordnance Battalion (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), 52nd Ordnance Group (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), 20th Support Command (CBRNE).  CPL Hewitt was killed in an attack by a suicide bomber in a dining facility in the Forward Operating Base Marez, Mosul, Iraq. Fourteen American service members and four civilians were killed in that attack, with 72 service members being wounded. CPL Hewitt was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart Medal.
