CPT George H. Fischer

CPT George Arthur Fischer was killed on 1 April 1968. CPT Fischer was assigned to the 3rd Ordnance Battalion (Ammunition), Explosive Ordnance Disposal Section, 53rd General Support Group, Army Support Command Saigon, 1st Logistical Command, Long Binh, Bien Hoa Province (today called Binh Duong Province), Republic of Vietnam.  CPT Fischer died as a result of burns while sleeping when his room in the Bachelor Officer Quarters at 3rd Ordnance Battalion (Ammunition), Long Binh, Republic of Vietnam took a direct hit from a 122mm rocket.  The rocket exploded next to his bed on the first floor.  CPT Fischer posthumously received the Purple Heart Medal.
