Jason was born October 24, 1974 in Valdosta, Georgia to Ronald and Sherry Holt McMahon. Jason attended Emporia State University where he met his wife, Jennifer Keehn prior to joining the military.
CPT Jason Thomas McMahon died from wounds that he received on 5 September 2010. CPT McMahon was assigned to the 744th Ordnance Company (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), 184th Ordnance Battalion (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), 52nd Ordnance Group (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), 20th Support Command (CBRNE). CPT McMahon unit was in near Methar Lam, Jalalabad, Afghanistan when he received fatal wounds from indirect fire during an insurgent attack. CPT McMahon succumbed to his injuries in Bagram, Afghanistan with members of his unit by his side. The unit was supporting the Bastogne Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division at the time of the attack. CPT McMahon was awarded a Bronze Star Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Purple Heart Medal with oak leaf cluster, and the Silver Star Medal posthumously.
Captain McMahon is survived by his wife, Jennifer L. McMahon and his daughters, Trinity B., McKenzie J. and Azlyn J. McMahon all of Dover, TN; his parents, Ronald and Sherry McMahon of Mulvane, KS; his brother, Ty McMahon and his wife, Kimmy of Wichita, KS; Jennifer’s family includes her parents, Ernest and Lavon Keehn, her brothers, Mike (Julie) Keehn and Alan (Tery) Keehn all of Wetmore, KS, Kertis Keehn of Highland, KS; her sister, Kathy (Bob) Mikesell of Jamestown, KS and many nieces and nephews.
