SGT Elijah T. Wong

SGT Elijah Tai Wah Wong was killed on 9 February 2004. SGT Wong was assigned to the 363rd Ordnance Company (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), 3rd Ordnance Battalion (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), 111thOrdnance Group (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), Arizona Army National Guard.  SGT Wong and another soldier from New York were killed, and others were injured when a collection on unexploded ordnance, rocket-propelled grenades and mortar rounds detonated, while being moved to a demolition pit in Sinjar, Iraq.  SGT Wong received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals posthumously.  The National Guard Armory in Coolidge, Arizona has been renamed Wong Armory in his honor.
