SRA William N. Newman

SrA William Newman, a native of Utah, was from Kingston Springs, Tennessee. He joined the Air Force in November of 2003 and graduated NAVSCOLEOD in May 2005. He was assigned to the 15th Civil Engineer Squadron, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. 

He was deployed to the 332nd Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron, Balad AB, Iraq in December 2006. During this deployment as a team member, he completed 98 combat missions. His actions protected the people of Iraq, and US and Coalition Forces operating with him. 

SrA Newman’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star with Valor Device, Purple Heart, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Combat Action Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Air Expeditionary Service Medal with Gold Border, and the Air Force Training Ribbon. 

SrA Newman is survived by his wife Soyong; his father and stepmother, Matt and Angela Newman; sisters Elizabeth, Emily, Janet, and Crystal; and brothers Jeff and Joey.
