T/5 CPL Harry Pollack, CPT Raymond Lawrence Battershell, and T/5 CPL George H. Beggs were killed on 18 May 1945. The team was assigned to 154th Ordnance (Bomb Disposal) Squad, Fifth Army. They were investigating an abandoned truck in Italy that was loaded with German munitions when it exploded killing everyone present. The truck had been booby-trapped. Medals: Army of Occupation – Europe Medal.
