PVT Michael Costagliola

PVT Michael A. Costagliola and A2C Nelson L. Sanderson, USAF, were killed on 18 December 1957.  PVT Costagliola and A2C Sanderson were students at the Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD), Naval Ordnance Station, Indian Head, Maryland.  An explosion from a M103 bomb nose fuze killed PVT Costagliola and A2C Sanderson.  It is reported that PVT Costagliola had picked up the fuze when it functioned.  Family received PVT Costagliola’s posthumously awarded Good Conduct Medal in 2007.
