SGT Alfred F. Sanders was killed on 22 December 1943. SGT Sanders was assigned to 105th Ordnance Bomb Disposal Squad (Separate) at the time of his death. The 105th Ordnance Bomb Disposal Squad (Separate) was assigned to the island of Espiritu Santo in the New Hebrides. SGT Sanders was carrying out some experimental procedures on both Japanese and American ordnance. SGT Sanders was killed when an unidentified piece of Japanese ordnance exploded.
