SGT Homer M. Baer was killed on 27 April 1945. SGT Baer was assigned to the 231st Ordnance Service Platoon (Bomb Disposal) in the European Theater of Operations. SGT Baer was killed while attempting to inert a German hand grenade. SGT Baer was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
