SSG Brian Edward Studer was killed on 22 August 2008. SSG Studer was assigned to the 720th Ordnance Company (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), 28th Transportation Battalion, 18th Military Police Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command. SSG Studer was supporting a Route Clearance Package when he died of wounds suffered in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan while attempting to render safe an improvised explosive device.
