T/5 CPL Donald W. Vickers was killed on 20 March 1945. T/5 CPL Vickers was assigned to 50th Ordnance Bomb Disposal Squad. The 50th Ordnance Bomb Disposal Squad was in Braives, Belgium, checking some captured German munitions prior to moving them to a holding area. T/5 CPL Vickers picked up a booby-trapped German landmine to check it out, when it exploded killing him instantly. T/5 CPL Vickers was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
