T/5 CPL Joseph F. Fedele was killed on 20 March 1945. T/5 CPL Fedele was assigned to 67th Ordnance Bomb Disposal Squad stationed at Verdun, France. The 67th Ordnance Bomb Disposal Squad (Separate) was clearing unexploded bombs near Bar Le Duc, France. T/5 CPL Fedele was killed, LT Joe F. Petit was injured, and a Frenchman was killed when they were approaching an unexploded bomb that detonated. T/5 CPL Fedele was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
